How to be intimate with the Spirit of God and the things we reap from intimacy with the Lord

The first step to intimacy is understanding who you are before God and who He is. You are God’s creation and not His co-equal so in the place of intimacy, respect and honour must be present. Secondly, you cannot exist without God but He can exist without You therefore He is not only your friend but He is Lord over you. Humility is also key. Having a glimpse of how great and large God is can lead you into deeper realms of intimacy because you start to see Him as He is, the Great I AM.

God is not someone you fit into your schedule. Your schedule works around Him. He is the key player and the ten remainder players have to find a way to work around Him. All I am trying to say is God must have His own time slot. You don’t go on purposeful outings with friends just by chance but with careful planning and anticipation, you set a date and time and meet up to have a blast. It is the same with God. If you desire to be more intimate with the Lord, you must set time aside for this.

Next, His presence must be there, obviously. But you must make room for His presence. As it is said, God does not force Himself into any setting. He goes where He is welcomed and when He notices that You are willing to receive anything from Him, He does so dutifully. Making room for His presence is easier said than done but it all starts with everything said at the start ( knowing who You are before Him and understanding who He is).

When it comes to what we reap from intimacy with the Lord, I think being allowed to be intimate with Him alone is a privilege and an honour. One thing I’ve also come to learn is that when you spend time with the Prince of Peace, an overwhelming sense of peace consumes You and it’s not necessarily because you prayed for it but it is because you have been with Him who holds peace. Additionally, in the place of intimacy, God shares “burdens” with you. I don’t know if “burdens” is the right word but things that God needs someone to pray about so that He can enforce change, God begins to share them with you. You start to understand His desire to save all mankind and you start to love as He does. All this happens because you become intimate with Him.

My prayer is that you’ll become more intimate with the Lord because after all, we are His children.

Happy New Year!

This is going to be your best year yet if it is your best year with God- Michael Todd.

For this to be your best year yet, you have to be born again and you have to understand what being born again means.

The concept of being born again is simply dedicating your life to Christ.

Romans 10:9

"If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”

Being born again seems like an easy process but it is more than just a proclamation.

In 2 Corinthians 5:17, Paul says, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new”.

When you give your life to Christ, you are no longer the same person. You are now brought into the kingdom and are adopted by God to be a part of His family as stated in Ephesians 1:4-5 (”For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accord..”).

Not only are you member of the Almighty God’s family, but you have also inherited the righteousness of Jesus Christ through faith, so you are justified before the Lord ( Philippians 3:9).

Additionally, as a born again citizen, you have intimate moments with the Holy Spirit, where He cleanses you and prunes you. ( Psalm 51)

Being born again is the best decision anybody can make.

Philippians 3:8 ( The voice translation). “And more so, I now realize that all I gained and thought was important was nothing but yesterday’s garbage compared to knowing the Anointed Jesus my Lord. For Him I have thrown everything aside—it’s nothing but a pile of waste—so that I may gain Him."

Being born again places you where you need to be, close to God and the only way to God is through Jesus Christ ( John 14:6). So if you would love to be born again, kindly click me!

As the year ends, first and foremost, we must thank the Lord. It is only by His grace that we all made it this far. Thank you Jesus.

This is also the time for us to start thinking of what we are going to leave in this year and what we are going to start doing in the next year.

For me, the one thing I want to leave in 2021 is being comfortable with not progressing in terms of my relationship with the Lord. I feel like sometimes I’m okay with where I am with Him, so that prevents me from desiring more, it’s almost as though I’m satisfied, at times. Lol but that isn’t possible. So, I pray that in 2022 I would always desire to move to the next level when it comes to my relationship with the Lord.

Another “thing” I desire in 2022 is to become more “ spiritually aware and intelligent”. I want to be aware of the spiritual activities that occur around me and that requires a certain level of grace. I know that all physical manifestations are only as a result of spiritual activities. Furthermore, if I am able to manipulate spiritual activities, with the power of the Holy Spirit, activities in the physical realm can also be altered.

Lastly, in 2022, I want to be able to dream. I feel like a lot of the time, we are limited to what we can dream of but I want that to be different next year God willing. I want to be able to dream big dreams and I want the Lord to grant me the grace to fulfil those dreams. I also don’t want selfish, material-based dreams but dreams concerning His kingdom.

Hopefully, sharing a few of my resolutions for 2022 would also inspire you to do same and present them before the Lord.

See you in 2022!
