We were created to worship. Man’s original habitat was the garden: the place of communion. In this place of communion, man had easy access to the Father and could effortlessly worship Him; the natural posture of man is to be at the feet of the Father, laying prostrate before Him, all under the ideology of worship. Worshipping God is surrendering to God and sacrificing oneself to Him. This is because when we surrender we acknowledge His plans to be better than ours, we acknowledge Him as the God of the universe -being able to see beyond time. When we sacrifice our bodies to the Lord, we are just returning what was already His. The Bible says we were bought at a price , the precious blood of the lamb ( 1 Corinthians 6:20).

Now that we’ve gotten a glimpse of what worship is, we need to understand how to do it. In Romans 12:1, Paul urges us to offer our bodies as a LIVING sacrifice , HOLY and PLEASING to GOD.

*Living- in Greek zaō, this means to be alive, sometimes quick. It also connotes some form of continuity, hinting at an activity of a daily sacrifice to the Lord. In order to properly and truly worship the Lord, we must be offering/surrendering our bodies to the Lord daily. To offer/surrender, simply means to go to God as broken and imperfect as we are and lay it all down before Him, trusting that through Jesus Christ, He can make you whole.

*Holy- in Greek hagios, means physically pure. We need to understand that no man can attain this holiness the Bible speaks of, apart from Jesus. None of us are holy by our own works rather we have inherited the holiness of Jesus Christ, which allows us to stand in the very presence of the Father ( 2 Timothy 1:9, Hebrews 12:14). To be holy means to be set apart, to be purified and it is only when you associate yourself with Jesus that you can inherit such holiness. When this holiness is attained, we are one step closer to truly worshipping the Father.

*Pleasing/ acceptable- in Greek euarestos, means fully agreeable. The Lord desires to do the purifying process with you so that He can take out the things that don’t look like Him and mould you into the image of Jesus Christ ( Romans 8:29). When we decide to “ purify” ourselves through stopping some habits and cutting some people off, we are not really doing what is acceptable or pleasing to the Lord because He has no say it. When we are presenting our bodies to the Lord we must ensure that the guidance of the Holy Spirit is leading us into this process of worship and not just our intellect dictating our every step.

Singing worship songs and all are still considered worship but it substantially roots from the daily sacrifice of our bodies to the Lord. Remember that when we sacrifice ourselves to the Lord daily we are giving the Lord permission to do what He has to do in us for His glory. Sometimes this may sound a bit scary because we never know the extent to which we may be purified or burnt but what always keeps me going is that He is so worthy. God is so worthy of all the praise that if we were to sacrifice every hour of the day I would do exactly that. He is so worthy of all our worship.

It’s great that you’ve taken time out of your day to read this very important word from the Lord. As said in the previous post, this post should be centred on Worship. However, the Lord has told me to inform you of something else that is needed for this particular season. This is genuinely the Lord speaking; He revealed His thoughts to me and His sad response.

The Lord is sad or , better put, disappointed or heart broken. As Christmas approaches, a lot of activities are being organised- most of which are not centred around the Lord. Being a culprit myself in previous seasons, we tend to find ourselves desiring to satisfy the desires of our flesh so badly especially in the approaching season of “enjoyment”. We allow our flesh to dictate our every step and eventually fall prey to the devil’s deceptive ways.

Now, in a year like 2020, where we have seen the faithfulness of the Lord like never before, where we have seen the favour and provision of the Lord like never before, we cannot end it by falling back into the pit our flesh once led us into. God has been so good to us that it would be so unfair if we were to neglect His goodness throughout the year and worship the enemy. God has been so faithful to us that if we are to forget His awesome nature, it goes to show how wicked the human race is. Because after all the Lord has done for us this year, it makes absolute sense if we crown the year by giving Him the highest praise and not the enemy.

If you still don’t get the point, here it is:

God has been so GREAT to us in this year of 2020 (from a pandemic, to job losses, to brutality , to racial injustice and many more), yet we still want to satisfy the cravings of our flesh but, please, we need to say no. The flesh isn’t want preserved my life, the flesh didn’t give me my peace of mind when the whole world was in shambles, the flesh didn’t provide supernaturally when pockets where empty, the flesh didn’t heal miraculously when doctors had no solution. No, the flesh didn’t do me any good, all it did was transfer me from one bondage to the other ( even when the transfer market was closed😪). But GOD DELIVERED ME FROM IT ALL. He did all the awesome and amazing things for me and I know He did it for you too.

This is why He is getting sad because He is seeing His beloved children who claimed they returned to Him slip back into the very bondages He delivered them from.

In this season, God wants you to choose Him. It doesn’t matter what friend Pineapple or Banana says. You know what the Lord has done for you this year, don’t let the devil make you blind. Choose the Lord, choose the Spirit and kill the flesh.

The devil has managed to make us blind ( 2 Corinthians 4:4) to the love God has for us. Some of us are completely oblivious to the love God has for us and others claim they know but they really don’t.

I know God loves us because there’s no shadow He won’t light up coming after us, lost sheep. I know He loves us because He sent Jesus to suffer for us and ,ultimately, save us! I know He loves us because He goes above and beyond to get our attention.

If you truly love God, if you sincerely love God, you’ll honour Him with everything ( 1 Corinthians 6:20) . We love Him because He first loved us ( 1 John 4:19) and when His love becomes your very reality, a flame will be set within your soul to do everything for His glory.

The saddest thing to happen to someone is if they don’t realise God’s love for them. When you know that the Lord loves and madly adores you, you’ll automatically try your HARDEST to reciprocate such love because as humans all we ever desire is love and acceptance.

The questions today are

1.Do u think God loves you?

2.Do you love God?

Despite this, some may still ask “ If God loves me, why is a, b, c or d happening to me?”

But please, remember that when Jesus isn’t the Lord of our lives, the devil is and once he’s the lord of our lives he can also influence situations ( John 10:10). God isn’t going to forcefully protect you because He’s a gentleman, He’s not going to force His supremacy and Lordship on anyone ( Joshua 24:15, Mark 8:34). Rather He desires that we commune with Him and ask for such divine protection and deliverance ( Matthew 7:7-8).

Plus, God never promised a rosy life ( John 16:33)

Hopefully at this point, by the grace of God, the Holy Spirit has started convicting you and you’re wondering “ How do I show God I love Him?”.

:through your worship, not necessarily singing songs that exalt His holy name but doing something deeper than that.

Check out next week’s post for a further elaboration of the above answer xx

God bless you!
