Many of us have established opinions in our minds as facts. An opinion is a statement without evidence but a fact is backed up by a catalogue of evidence.

I was listening to a podcast earlier on this week and a statement was made that got me thinking. The statement was basically around the idea that many have the opinion that Christianity is ‘not cool’. In other words, if you’re fully invested in the things of the Lord, you’re doing too much. You know, it’s never that deep as they say.

First of all, people are not Christian because it’s cool. You don’t dedicate your life to Christ and vow to serve Him all the days of your life because it’s cool. It’s very much deeper than that. So whether it’s cool or not, that’s not why we do the things we do.

When you become a Christian, your entire identity is now based on the role of a Christian , who is a follower of the Lord Jesus Christ. Everything you now do stems from the fact that Jesus Christ ,who once walked on the face of this earth, died and resurrected , is your Lord and personal saviour. You have understood that your good works cannot save you and earn you a place in heaven so you have chosen to accept the sacrifice Christ paid on the cross for your sins.

When people say you’re doing too much, it honestly makes me laugh. Most people who say such are doing absolutely nothing or the bare minimum for Jesus Christ so obviously even the littlest deed will seem much to them.

Doing too much is not a term that can be used to describe any deed a Christian does in reverence for the Lord. I say this because there is nothing that man can ever do that will equate to the immerse suffering Christ endured on the cross for our salvation. It is actually impossible to do too much in God’s sight because even your human body will limit you on how much you can do.

The reason why people say others are doing too much is because they lack revelation and I pray that God will open their eyes. When you understand what Jesus Christ went through for you and I, you would want to dedicate every second of your life to pleasing Him. This was no joke! Crucifixion was no joke! He was tortured to death, He wasn’t just murdered! Open your eyes and see the expression of God’s magnificent love in this. Once you catch this revelation, you will forever want to pour out yourself for the Lord’s glory.

Lastly, to the people who think it’s never that deep or who have succumbed to that ideology, let me submit to you and remind you that it’s even deeper than you think. We don’t go around shouting this Christianity thing for fun. People’s eternal destinations are at stake. Everyday people die and are heading straight to hell because they did not know Jesus Christ as their Lord and personal saviour. They were not committed to Christ. This is not just an endeavour for earthly rewards my people! This is bigger than that. Jesus Christ is the only way to heaven and I pray that everyone accepts Him and believes in Him and serves Him faithfully because He loves you and He died so that you don’t have to be enslaved to the devil and spend eternity in hell.

Many people know of God. Regardless of whether they follow Him or not, many people appreciate the fact that there is a God.

When someone ‘knows of’ a person, they receive a limited version of that individual. 'Knowing of' someone means that you’ve probably received information about that individual from a third party or you have had limited one-to-one contact with that individual. When you ‘know of’ someone, that person is classified as an acquaintance and not necessarily a friend. The extent to which you will sacrifice for that individual is quite restricted.

Many people, including Christians, just 'know of' God. They do not know God for themselves. In their entire lifetime, they have only relied on information from others about the Lordship and supremacy of our God. They do not have a personal conviction about the deity, God nor have they had supernatural personal encounters that have persuaded them that God truly exists and that this thing we are doing, is not for show. This is also exactly why some Christians can’t do much for God. They just 'know of' Him. They do not have a personal relationship with the Lord so it is honestly a struggle for them to sacrifice for Him.

Unfortunately, the reality of the matter is, only those who know God are children of God. Every parent knows their child and every child knows their parent(s). To be a child of God, you must know God and not just know of Him. God is not your local celeb that wants to relate with everyone from a distance. He desires intimacy with His creation, more than you know.

How to know God.

Obviously be born again first (John 3:3, Romans 10:9).

Next is to have the desire for it. God will only fill empty vessels. Pray for the hunger and desire to know God more. Next, it is simple: pray, read your Bible daily and go to church. Lastly, befriend the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the only One who will help you accomplish all these steps.

We must know God. We must all have that personal conviction that yes, indeed, God is real and He reigns supreme. Every problem you have in this life will be sorted when you know God.

Dear Lord,
I pray that you will give me the desire to know You more. Help me to go deeper and help me to never settle. There are deeper wells to draw from so lead me, o Holy Spirit.
In Jesus’ name
Amen

John 3:16

For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life.

Romans 6:23

For the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Salvation is a gift. You do not work to be saved. You believe to be saved.

Easter commemorates the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. This event stands to be the best thing that has ever happened to mankind.

Our sinful nature leads to death, spiritually and eternally. However, it is not God’s will that any man should perish (2 Peter 3:9) but that all should come to repentance. By repenting and believing that Christ took your place on the cross and that He resurrected, you’ll be saved.

Everyone needs Jesus Christ because everyone needs to be saved from eternal damnation and the consequences of their sinful nature.

Easter is not an annual ritual where Christians go to church for 3 consecutive days. We celebrate this monumental occurrence in history because it changed the eternal destination of many and still is.

Accept Jesus Christ as your Lord personal saviour for He alone is the Way, the Truth and the life. Eternal life is found in no other person than Jesus Christ
